EDL Hijack Sikh Protest

The Sikh community of Luton held a protest outside a police station demanding justice for a girl who had been sexually assaulted. The EDL were quick to jump on the band-wagon and use it as an excuse to make it look like they were good guys.

The EDL asked more people to show up

Once a few EDL members were at the protest, the EDL urged more people to make it to the protest.

The EDL then start calling Sikhs 'brothers and sisters' just for the occasion. We haven't seen this before.

So why did the EDL urge more supporters to come? The more the EDL came, the more it would benefit the EDL in the news and its reputation.

The EDL and affiliates start to over-exaggerate

The EDL and its leader started to use the protest for their own agenda.

Even right-wing group European Freedom Initiative join in to help the EDL in an article they published later on.

An EDL support group even claims there were '200 English men' attending.

What really happened

There really weren't too many EDL supporters there.

Even LutonToday (30/05/12) reported that,
Several English Defence League supporters joined the Sikhs in protest.’
Different stories make it a lot more suspicious

It would make sense for this to happen, because the EDL leader and EDL Deputy were supposedly invited to a Sikh temple earlier on before the protest.

We know for certain however, that the EDL can use this incident as an advantage to gain supporters from different backgrounds when really, they just want more support.

Majority of Sikhs don't want anything to do with the EDL

We doubt the whole Sikh community would want to affiliate themselves with right-wing fascists. And it seems the majority already know that the EDL tried to hijack the protest. A Sikh group made it clear...

Well said.

  2. the thing is, they think the man was a muslim, when really, its really non-muslim to sexually assault or rape in islam.

actually, the punishments are quite severe so its quite ridiculous to point the finger.
